DG Hisham took to his Facebook page to share that the Delta variant is multiplying in the noses of people who have been vaccinated.

But don’t worry, the vaccines do work to prevent those infected from getting extremely sick or winding up in the hospital or dying.

“The virus that multiplies is equally contagious to people who have not been vaccinated, which means that individuals who have been vaccinated can still spread the virus and infect others,” he said.

Several studies conducted in hospitals in India, Provincetown, Massachusetts and Finland also found that after the transmission of the Delta variant, there were many viruses detected in the nose of an individual whether they were vaccinated or not.

Health officials around the world are now adjusting their plans for combating COVID-19 in light of the more infectious Delta variant and concern that even vaccinated people can spread it.

In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) once again recommended that everyone, including those who are vaccinated, wear a face mask in high-risk indoor areas.

DG Hisham assures Malaysians that getting yourself vaccinated will protect you from severe symptoms, as well as death, which in turn reduces patient admissions to the intensive care unit (ICU).

Alamak, scary nya!

Please don’t take this lightly, guys, and please get vaccinated ASAP!
