Perhaps, one of the toughest things about the conditional movement control order (CMCO) for many of us is not being able to see our friends or family- no more brunch dates with your girlfriends or balik kampung to see your family on the weekends due to the travel restrictions.

This can really take a toll on our mental health, so it’s important that we try to stay connected even if we can’t physically see people.
Here are some ways you can stay connected with your loved ones during the CMCO:
1. Video Calls

This is a pretty obvious one, as most apps now have a video call feature- it is the easiest way for people to stay connected!
Especially for the older family members who may struggle to understand technology, this is the simplest way for them to communicate since it works just like a phone call except you can see the person you’re talking to! Talking to your loved ones face-to-face can feel more natural and they’d probably want to see your face as well!
2. Doing activities online

Talking can sometimes be boring. There are so many other creative ways you can use video calls, like watching a movie with someone, play online games together, or a virtual dinner date!
Try finding a recipe online and then simply cook together via video, or there’s plenty of video games online that you can play with your friends. Video calls have allowed us to stay connected, do fun activities together while also staying safe.

3. Drop a “Hello!”

It doesn’t have to be all long conversations. We all use smartphones, so why not put them to good use?
Send a little message to your friend, family member… or whoever you like! A little message like “Stay safe” or “Hope you are well” really does go a long way, and it shows that you are thinking about them. Or give them a quick call?
But remember, if you want to have some time to yourself, that’s fine too.
With everything that is currently happening in the world, especially in our country, it feels like there is a higher demand to constantly talk to your family, or your friends- which can sometimes be exhausting…
Take a deep breath and do things on your own terms if you need to. Stay safe, stay healthy!
