Woman Praised Melaka Hospital After Her Mum Was Warded For A Week

There is no doubt that Malaysia has one of the best healthcare systems in the world!

We all remember the UK-based Malaysian molecular immunologist who said that the public healthcare system in Malaysia is “too expensive” and received backlash from Malaysians online, and even had our Health DG respond to her statement as a “gross misrepresentation of the Malaysian health system”.

… but now, a woman from Melaka single-handedly debunked that statement in a viral Facebook post.

I AM TRULY GRATEFUL 🙏 A week back I had to call for an ambulance to rush my mum to the Melaka Hospital as she was...

Lee Yee Lan said: “I am proud to be Malaysian and to tell the world that we do have the best healthcare system that meets the needs of its citizens,” she said in her post.

The 54-year-old had to call for an ambulance to rush her mother to the Melaka Hospital at around 2 am as she was vomiting and had very high blood pressure, and when she reached the emergency department, she expressed that she was very impressed to see the medical team attending to many patients calmly and professionally.

After it was confirmed that her mother had to stay at the hospital, she was worried that she couldn’t be with her in the ward due to the new COVID-19 SOPs.

She then explained that the doctors and nurses updated her of her mother’s progress every single day on the phone and were very patient with all her questions, which then reassured her that her mother was in good hands.

“I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Dr. Firdaus, Dr. Wee, and many others that I can’t name and the nurses there who are so dedicated and patient with my requests… May the Almighty look over you and bless you with strength and good health so that you can continue to serve and treat the sick to health again,” she said.

In a separate Facebook post, Lee Yee Lan shared a video of her thanking Malaysians for their kind comments and wishes, “All credit goes to KKM and a special thank you to Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, the man who has the biggest burden on his shoulders right now…”

GRATITUDE is the healthiest of all human emotions....
