According to highway operator Prolintas, the woman agreed to settle her outstanding balance right away. She had accrued an unpaid balance of RM275.65 in toll fees that she had previously avoided paying.
Prolintas reported on Twitter that the woman was stopped at a toll booth on the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway recently after it was discovered that she had failed to pay the toll 45 times.
Prolintas' spokesman urged drivers to take today's action as a warning.
He posted, "Don't emulate this immoral act," warning drivers that by avoiding tolls, they were not only trespassing but also putting other vehicles in danger.
In order to pass through before the boom gate lowers, vehicles typically tailgate those in front of them to avoid paying the toll.
If charged and found guilty, evaders who are caught risk paying a fine of between RM2,000 and RM5,000.
Tailgating is dangerous! Please don’t do this, and be safe on the road, everyone!
