Mall-goers at Alamanda shopping complex in Putrajaya had no idea they were coming in for a “wild” shopping experience yesterday afternoon (December 6th), when a wild boar suddenly wandered into the building and caused quite a stir.

A video of the animal roaming a sports store quickly went viral on social media:

Eight firemen on two fire trucks had arrived at the scene to chase the boar out of the building.

“The animal was seen heading towards the Precinct 16 rugby field and the case has been over to the Putrajaya Corporation Wildlife Division (PPJ) for further action,” Putrajaya Fire and Rescue station chief Shaari Abdullah told Bernama.

It’s understood that a wild boar shooting operation is held every Sunday at the Federal Government Administrative Centre, and Shaari has asked its officers to contact the PPJ wildlife division if such an incident were to happen again, to facilitate monitoring by the Fire and Rescue Department to ensure safety and public property are looked after.

In an official statement, Alamanda said: "The store will be temporarily closed for business in order for thorough cleansing works as well as cleansing in accordance to Islamic rituals facilitated by JAKIM (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia) officials. These will include the disposal of the identified “contaminated” apparels. At the same time, common areas in the shopping mall (especially at the area where the wild boar was found to be) have been cleaned and sanitised."
