This Is What They Actually Mean By ‘Panic Buying’

Since the Movement Control Order was implemented throughout the country, the government announced that only one person or the ketua keluarga is allowed to leave the house to do essential matters, like getting groceries.

It’s usually the women who go out to supermarkets to go get groceries for the whole family because obviously, women do more cooking and grocery shopping than men so they are the experts!

It’s a common stereotype that men cannot be trusted with grocery shopping, as most men are unfamiliar with food items and produce. Let’s be honest, even some of us still can’t differentiate between galangal, turmeric, and ginger!

Facebook user, Cheanu Chew shared some tips on how the head of the household can prepare for their ‘remote grocery shopping mission’ the night before.

His top tips were to fully charge your phone and get enough sleep the night before so you can stay calm over the phone to minimise disruptions before you execute your mission.

Twitter user, Yankee (@ZakiHafifi) did a thread on ‘Sayur 101’ that listed all the different vegetables that might be confusing for some people (because some of them look the same!).

Meanwhile, another user Da’i Izzhar Nazri (izzharnazri) shared how he spent an hour at the supermarket but only managed to get three of the items on his wife’s list.

Can you imagine the ‘panic’ that’s going through their minds when trying to pick the correct things to buy?!

Good luck, guys! There’s still eight days of the MCO (from 24 March), so there’s still time to learn!
