This cat has climbed more mountains in Malaysia than any other Malaysian. How amazing!
It’s very common nowadays to see pets joining their humans on adventures, but it’s not often that we see a Malaysian doing it!
Azhan Dziaruddin and his fur friend, Jibek, have conquered over 30 mountains in Malaysia, including seven of the tallest mountains in West Malaysia.
According to mStar, Jibek the cat has climbed Gunung Chamah, Gunung Ulu Sepat, Gunung Yop Yap, Gunung Korbu, Gunung Gayong, Gunung Yong Belar and Gunung Tahan which stands at 2,190 metres tall.
Azhan said that Jibek is a mixed breed of Maine Coon and kucing kampung, and is now four years old. He’s been going on all these great adventures since he was only 6-months-old!
The name Jibek is a little bit weird but it was because Jibek likes to “jilat beg” when he was a kitten, which was then shortened to Jibek and became his name, Azhan explained.
“The first time Jibek joined my hiking adventures, I brought him to Gunung Huang in Hulu Langat when he was only 6-months-old,” he told mStar.
He continued: “At first I was skeptical and worried if he’ll act out but I was really surprised that he liked it so much and he didn’t even want to stay in his bag.”
Jibek would usually stay on Azhan’s shoulders whenever they are on these trips, but whenever Jibek feels like he wants to walk around on his own, Jibek will be allowed to but with a harness attached to Azhan.
One of the craziest adventures Jibek has been to was paragliding in Kuala Kubu Bharu, and like many adventures before, he enjoyed every minute of it, said Azhan.
