According to Harian Metro, Haikal’s father was in a coma for about a week at Taiping Hospital being treated for heart problems and diabetes, and Haikal didn’t get to visit him because of COVID-19 SOPs.
The school counsellor, Badariah Mohaidin explained the school allowed the family to send the body to the school for Haikal to see, just before it was sent to be laid to rest.
“He had about 15 minutes to see his father before entering the exam hall before the Sejarah
paper started at 10am. Haikal had to sit for several papers until the afternoon. During recess, he didn't take his meals at all and kept crying," she said.
Badariah added that teachers offered Haikal their support and also gave him space to mourn.
Our thoughts go out to Haikal and his family.
