While orangutans may appear adorable and gentle, it's crucial to remember that they are wild creatures with strength and power that should not be underestimated.
This highlights the importance of maintaining caution when encountering these animals. Recently, a TikTok user named @Jack_Torr shared a video on his account depicting an orangutan seemingly 'escaping' at the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in Sarawak.

However, what is disheartening about the situation is that despite the wildlife center staff urging visitors to swiftly distance themselves for safety reasons, many chose to ignore these warnings in their eagerness to capture the orangutan on camera.
In his TikTok post, he wrote, "Massive male orangutan in Malaysia escaped!"
In the video, a member of the wildlife center staff is seen instructing the visitors to move away from the orangutan that appears to be 'escaping.'
The term 'escaped' is used loosely here, as the orangutans at the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre are allowed to roam freely. Nevertheless, visitors are still advised to adhere to the instructions provided by the staff members.
"This one is aggressive. Come on, come on, come on. This one is the big boss in here. Just move, move, move, move, move. Move over there," he urgently advises.
Despite the urgency in his voice, the visitors only take a few steps back, keeping their phones up to record as the orangutan approaches.
The staff member's concern becomes more evident as he ushers people away.
“Faster, faster, faster.”
“This is actually for your safety. It's important to maintain a distance from the orangutans," he emphasizes.
Netizens have expressed disappointment over the visitors' lack of heed towards the staff member's warnings, underlining the significance of taking such instructions seriously.
This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of respecting wild animals and giving them the space they need. While capturing stunning moments with these creatures can be thrilling, it's vital to remember that these animals are not only powerful but also unpredictable.
By respecting their space and adhering to guidelines set by wildlife experts, we can ensure our safety while also contributing to the well-being of these remarkable creatures that grace our planet.
