It’s the new normal, they say. That means no more large gatherings or crowded events and social distancing at all times, including marriage ceremonies.
Since the announcement by Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS) that allows for solemnization ceremonies to be done online during the Movement Control Order (MCO), many couples have jumped on the online marriage bandwagon.

Sis Lynn shared her experience being married to her husband online at 12pm yesterday (22 April 2020) on Twitter, as netizens watched the whole process in awe.
She said the whole ceremony was done through the Facebook Live function and was attended by only family and close friends. Everything was just the same as it would have been done in person, except this time it’s through a video call and there was no shaking of hands.
The groom read their marriage agreements and Lynn, who was watching him do so in the video call, couldn’t help but shed a tear.
According to Lynn, they had both planned the wedding a few months prior to the current wedding date as they are both university students and had to coordinate their semester breaks. They planned for a small wedding ceremony on April 4 for relatives and close friends and had even accounted for their wedding attire, door gifts and even photographers.
Unfortunately, just a month before their marriage, the MCO was announced and things weren’t looking so great for them. JAIS eventually announced that all wedding ceremonies needed to be postponed to adhere to the social distancing rules, forcing them to cancel their ceremony at the very last minute.
Luckily, it was soon announced that online marriage can be allowed, with certain set guidelines.
Since she tweeted her online marriage experience, Lynn’s tweets have gone viral with more than 34,000 retweets and messages pouring in to wish the happy couple!
Lynn is grateful that the whole ceremony went smoothly and that she can’t wait to hug her husband when the MCO is lifted!
