It was reported that the incident happened on Wednesday (February 16th) at 8:45pm at Kampung Syed Omar bridge in Bintong, Perlis.

According to RTM, Kangar Fire and Rescue Department Senior Fire Officer II, Yazid Ahmad said they received an emergency call at about 8:49 pm and immediately dispatched a team of ten personnel and emergency medical services to the location.

When the rescue team arrived at the scene, they discovered a car entirely engulfed in flames, with a man still inside.

In the viral video, the man can be seen stepping out of the blazing vehicle with his entire body engulfed in flames.

After the fire on his body was doused, he was seen standing on his own two feet and consciously replying to members of the public in another video.

Some passersby noticed the man walking towards them and decided to stop their car to help him, says Kangar district police commander Supt Wari Kiew.

"The witness stepped out of their car to extinguish the fire and try to calm the victim down before calling for help," he said

At around 9.20 p.m., the fire that was scorching the Perodua Alza was fully doused.

The burn victim was taken to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF) for treatment right away.

According to police investigations, he was identified as a 28-year-old local male.

"The man is a psychiatric patient receiving outpatient treatment at HTF's psychiatric department, according to the victim's father," Wari said.

The victim attempted suicide twice recently, once in January and the second one just last Tuesday (February 8th), but was saved by his family both times.

Wari went on to say that his father had thought his son was planning an attempt the night before and had hurried to the police station for help after seeing him down a bottle of gasoline and leaving the house.

The victim suffered severe injuries and is now receiving treatment at HTF.
