Man In Penang Praised For Cleaning Up Garbage-Filled Waterfront All By Himself

Beach pollution has been a problem in our country for many years.

Harmful substance like plastic, trash, and litter such as cigarette butts, food wrappers, and plastic bottles as well as pesticides and oil contaminates our coasts. While residential or commercial trash that is not properly disposed of will also eventually reach our beaches.

In a viral Facebook post, Penang Kini shares pictures of a man who was seen cleaning the waterfront in Padang Kota, Penang. The place had previously gone viral on social media due to trash being seen floating in the waters. 

“You’re a hero! Thank you, God, for this man who is willing to make a sacrifice, to clean up the dirty beach.

“Our friend here also fought against the waves to collect trash that was wedged between the rocks by the seawall’s edge,” Penang Kini wrote.

In one of the photos, the man can be seen collecting the trash and putting them inside a white trash bag. 

Netizens took to the comment section to praise the man for his efforts, and also took the opportunity to remind each other to all play a part in keeping our environment clean, “To everyone, and Penangites, who are on holiday, please keep our Padang Kota clean,” said one person.

We totally agree. It’s up to ALL of us to keep our environment clean and safe, for us and for our future generations. 

So remember to keep your trash with you until you found a proper place to dispose of it. We all have a responsibility here, we’re all in this together!
