A video featuring a Malay singer collaborating with a piano busker to perform a Chinese song has gone viral on social media.
The piano busker, Winson, posted the video on Xiaohongshu on Sunday, 20 October, capturing the moment when Afiqasy Raaf approached him while busking at the Bukit Bintang MRT station.

"Can I sing?" Afiqasy asked in Bahasa Melayu, to which Winson replied, "What song do you want to sing?"
"I want to sing 'A Little Happiness,'" Afiqasy responded in Mandarin, referring to the well-known song by Taiwanese singer Hebe. Winson was pleasantly surprised by Afiqasy's Mandarin proficiency and his choice of a Mandarin song.
Following their brief exchange, Afiqasy began singing, accompanied by Winson on the piano.
As of now, the video has amassed over 7,800 likes on Xiaohongshu, with many netizens applauding their unexpected duet.
"I felt this Malay boy's love for Chinese songs. You could see his excitement and happiness," wrote one commenter.
"This is so touching. It truly reflects the beauty of Malaysia," remarked another.
One viewer expressed surprise, saying, "At first, I thought he wanted to sing 'Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies,' but I didn't expect him to choose 'A Little Happiness.'" This comment referenced a popular Cantonese song by the Hong Kong rock band Beyond, often cherished by non-Chinese speakers.
Winson responded to this remark, noting, "That's true! Most Malay singers usually perform Beyond's songs, but he mentioned that he enjoys music from JJ Lin, Jay Chou, and many others."
It's moments like these that inspire us to celebrate our diversity and embrace the shared joy that music can create.
