“It’s getting worse. Even now, I’m just waiting to be transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU). Pray for Tehah, please,” Dr. Fatihah said in her last WhatsApp message to her father before she was admitted to the ICU at Sungai Buloh Hospital.
According to the New Straits Times, Dr. Fatihah, or Tehah, tested positive for COVID-19 a week ago and her condition has gotten worse ever since.
Her uncle, Mohd Ali said that it was extremely difficult for Tehah as she was also 29-weeks’ pregnant, however, the baby was safely delivered ahead of the due date to avoid serious complications.
He told reporters that Dr. Fatihah and her baby are both stable, though Dr. Fatihah remained warded in the ICU.
Dr. Fatihah works at Kajang Hospital, but she did not treat COVID-19-related cases.
Initially, she was admitted to the Kajang Hospital on Sunday (May 30th) and was told that she had bacterial infection in her lungs.
And it turned out, she is actually COVID-19 positive following a symptomatic screening just a day later.
She was then transferred to the ICU at Kajang Hospital before being sent to the ICU in Sungai Buloh Hospital for better intensive treatment.
Her husband and two children as well as her sister and parents also tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently being quarantined at home.
Ali said that the family has not stopped praying for Dr. Fatihah and hoped they would recover soon.
“Please pray for Dr. Fatihah and her family. Thank you to all the doctors and frontline staff who continue to work hard during these difficult times,” he added.
This is heartbreaking! We hope that Dr. Fatihah and her baby will recover soon and be reunited with their family at home.
