Local Blood Bank Begs For People To Donate Blood In A Heartbreaking Facebook Post

Malaysians, we need your blood!

As a side effect of the Movement Control Order (MCO), fewer people have been travelling to blood banks to donate their blood. In fact, Health Director-General revealed previously that our local blood banks have seen a decrease of 40% in supply since the MCO was implemented!

A heart-breaking post on Facebook by one local blood bank, “Derma Darah HTAR (Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital)”, showed just how severe the situation is.

The blood bank revealed that they are dangerously running low on stock for Type-A blood and begged for donors to come forward to replenish their stock.

Attached to the post were pictures of empty refrigerated storage units where they used to store all the Type-A blood. One storage unit only had around eight packs of Type-A blood left!

The admin posted the sad news yesterday (20 May) at 10:58 am and also reached to the public to donate blood either at their blood bank between 8 am to 10 pm or at Aeon Bukit Tinggi where their blood donation drive will be open between 10 am to 9 pm.

In less than 24 hours, the blood bank announced that they have gotten 96 bags of blood, all thanks to kind-hearted Malaysians who went to donate their blood!

The blood bank urged the public to still come and donate blood as they extended their operating hours at the HTAR Blood Donation Center until 10.00 pm in preparation for the Eid celebration.

So, what are you waiting for? Go and donate blood, today!
