"Don't Worry, I'll Treat You" – Dr Akmal Offers Free Treatment to Patients Who Can't Afford to Pay

Private clinics in Malaysia have become an essential option for many seeking quicker access to healthcare, but with the rising costs of medical treatment, it can often be a financial burden for those on a tight budget.

Public clinics, while more affordable, are often overcrowded, leaving patients to wait for long hours.

In a recent Facebook post, Dr Akmal Saleh, a clinic owner in Merlimau, Malacca, reassured his patients that they need not worry about paying their bills immediately if they are struggling financially. His message was simple: if you're unable to pay for your treatment now, you can settle the bill later.

Dr Akmal went on to offer further assistance, stating, “If you feel embarrassed about owing money, come and speak to me. I’ll make sure you receive free treatment.”

He shared a screenshot of a conversation with a patient who had visited the clinic with arm pain and asked if he could pay after receiving his salary on the 30th. Dr Akmal's response was both kind and understanding: “Yes, you can. Please come to the clinic.”

Reflecting on his own past, Dr Akmal explained that he had faced financial struggles when he was younger, so he understands the challenges that some people face today. His gesture is a reminder that healthcare should not be out of reach for those in need. “Your health is important, and it's crucial to take care of yourself,” he added.
