Disabled Man From Terengganu Builds Disabled-Friendly Bicycle Out Of Recycled Materials For Himself

Cycling, especially in public places for those who have certain disabilities, can be difficult.

This prompted a retired police officer to build a disabled-friendly tricycle using “second-hand” items or recycled materials.

According to Astro AWANI, Ramli Aziz from Kampung Padang Luas, Jerteh, Terengganu lost his right leg 18 years ago due to vascular disease.

He said he built the bicycle himself as most bicycle models that were being sold are not suitable for use by the disabled.

“I built this bicycle in six days. What took time was the idea of how I wanted to build this bike so it would work well.

“Even though I only use recycled materials, if God wills it, this bicycle can be used by the disabled like myself,” he said.

According to Ramli, while in service, he often participated in extreme activities including climbing, off-road four-wheel drives, and even joined a remote control aircraft club.

He hoped that he could improve his creation and produce more of these bicycles from recycled materials for the convenience of people who are disbaled, like himself.

He said that even without a formal education, but with experience and support from his friends and family, he wanted to create something that is beneficial to society.

This is great! Amazing job, Pak Cik Ramli!
