Women-only parking spaces are a thoughtful initiative aimed at enhancing safety for female drivers who travel alone. However, the misuse of these designated areas often undermines their purpose, sparking debate among Malaysians.

Recently, a TikTok user, Yzmeen (@sachiyzmeen), shared her frustration after encountering a couple occupying a women-only parking space. Taking matters into her own hands, she approached them to address the issue.
In the video, Yzmeen firmly reminded the couple that these parking spots are specifically intended for women travelling solo, highlighting their critical role in safeguarding individuals in potentially vulnerable situations.
The man in the car justified their presence by stating that his girlfriend was the driver. However, Yzmeen called out this behaviour, emphasising that the parking spots are meant to protect lone women, not couples.
“It’s not about who’s behind the wheel,” she explained. “The purpose of these spaces is to ensure women have a safer option when navigating car parks alone.”
Her caption struck a chord with viewers, “People won’t understand the risks until they experience the dangers of being a woman walking alone in a car park. Misusing these spaces could deny someone the protection they need.”

please, don't be selfish and be the reason of a girl getting r@Ped, kidn@Pped and what not. Pls have some basic human decency i cannot tolerate. I tried my best to say it nicely but deep inside i was boiling bcs i saw both of them parked and in the car together and he claimed "my gf is driving??" Tak kisah la sapa drive. Ladies parking means = if ure a lady, and you CAME ALONE then that parking is for you.

Yzmeen’s encounter serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting initiatives designed for public safety.
Women-only parking spaces are there for a reason. If you’re not a woman driving alone, think twice before using them. Your actions could make all the difference in ensuring someone’s safety.
