This young girl melts our hearts! Nur Afia Qistina Zamzuri is only 9-years-old and is already doing her part to assist the frontliners by sewing personal protective equipment (PPE) gowns to help the medical personnel at Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Najihah (HTAN) in combating the COVID-19 virus.

According to Astro Awani, Afia, who is from Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, learned how to sew when she was just 5-years-old from her mother, Hasna Hud, a seamstress.
Hasna said that she initially wanted to help the medical team in HTAN because they were running low on PPEs. “When I spoke to Afia about it, she also wanted to help.”
The PPE gowns that they had produced so far are all entirely made by Afia, and she only helped with the finishing touches on the neck area.

“I started giving her small materials when she was 7-years-old because I saw that she is interested. Then she started sewing pillowcases and sold it to the people in the neighbourhood.” said Hasna.
It takes around an hour for Afia to finish one pair of PPE, and to date, Afia has successfully completed around 100 pairs of PPEs and they have sent them over to HTAN.
This little girl proved that anyone, regardless of age or background, can do their part and contribute to helping the frontliners in this fight against the COVID-19 virus.
Now, how about we all do OUR part in helping the frontliners to contain the spread of the virus, by simply staying at home and continue to practice social distancing. Stay healthy and stay safe, everyone!
