After going bald to raise funds to help the underprivileged in his constituency last year, Muar MP Syed Saddiq is now offering online debate lessons to raise more funds to buy tablets.

The former Youth and Sports Minister took to Facebook to share that while his #BotakChallenge was successful, students’ plight to learn online amid the new normal is still a big issue, and that more needs to be done.

Previously in #botakchallenge, I’ve shaved my head clean to raise funds in order to provide laptops to the underprivileged university students in Muar Parliament. We’ve successfully distributed more than 200 laptops to the students. But in this new norm, 200 over laptops are not enough. And online learning devices are no longer needed only by university students but even by school students. I am once again called to raise money to provide devices for school students such as tablets. So I ask myself, what else do I have to offer to fundraise for Muar Parliament. Apart from my hair (gone now), I am an avid and passionate debater! And I would love to share all that I know about the world of debate and oratory to as many people as possible. What could be better than giving back through teaching and learning? Help me fundraise to ease the access of education for Muar Parliament’s students while learning how to be BOLD. Join my class! Be B̶A̶L̶D̶ BOLD ThunderBOLD #ThunderBOLD #tabletsforMuo

As you’re probably aware, the three-time winner of the Asian British Parliamentary (ABP) Debating Championship’s Asia Best Speaker award is more than qualified to share his knowledge about debating.

Syed Saddiq, an avid TikTok user, of course, used the platform to get his point across.

Online learning is now the new norm. There’s no time to lose! Help me buy tablets for underprivileged school students in Muar through learning. I’ll personally teach critical thinking, oratory and writing skills. Join the #thunderBOLD squad. Click the link on my profile!

Aside from the RM200 fee to register for the class, people can also sponsor a student to attend the lesson or help students in Muar.

It’s unclear when this new campaign will get underway, but Syed Saddiq simply said it would be soon.

In case you missed it, Syed Saddiq’s #BotakChallenge fundraiser was for his “1 Keluarga 1 Laptop” campaign, which he started in 2019, and aimed to help Muar’s less fortunate students by providing them with laptops.
