Man City Gets The Upper Hand Over Arsenal In The EPL Title Race

Man City have made themselves overwhelming favourites for the Premier League title, after a 4-1 thrashing of leaders Arsenal.

It leaves the Citizens just two points behind the Gunners, with the added advantage of also having two games in hand.

While the City-Arsenal game may not have been the title-decider that some were touting it to be, the result does give Pep Guardiola’s side a massive psychological advantage over their rivals.

City have seven games remaining this season, against Fulham, West Ham, Leeds, Everton, Chelsea, Brighton and Brentford.

This is seen as the easier run-in compared to Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures against Chelsea, Newcastle, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Wolves.

But more importantly, City have the momentum, having won seven straight league matches, at a time when Arsenal’s own campaign appears to be running out of steam. The Gunners, by comparison, are without a win in their last four league games.

City can go top of the table with a win over Fulham on Sunday, and its safe to assume that they will not look back once they finally get ahead.

City’s goal machine strikes again

A huge part of City’s success this season has been down to their goal machine Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian was on the scoresheet again versus Arsenal, with what was his 33rd league goal of the season.

This breaks Mo Salah’s record for the most goals scored by a player in a single 38-game campaign.

He is now also just two goals away from beating the outright record as the highest single-season goalscorer in top-flight history, which is jointly held by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole.

With seven games remaining for City this season, only a fool would bet against Haaland netting AT LEAST a handful more goals.

What’s most remarkable, is that he’s achieved all this in his very first season in the Premier League.
