The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has spoken up regarding interstate travel activities leading up to the upcoming Raya holidays.

According to a statement posted on their Facebook page, PDRM is taking the recent rise in new COVID-19 cases very seriously and will be taking necessary action to prevent the spread of the virus, including tightening interstate movement.

PDRM stressed that interstate travel is only permissible for the following purposes:
● Work
● Emergency and Death (involving immediate family members i.e. parents, children and siblings only)
● Medical
● Education
● Long-distance spouses

In addition, those who have permission to travel interstate can only do so from Monday to Thursday. Interstate travel forms with a date of travel that falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday will not be approved, except for emergencies, death or long-distance spouses.
Interstate travel for social reasons such as weddings or banquets are still prohibited.
This arrangement will continue until after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
PDRM also warned that strict action will be taken upon those who fail to abide by these rules.
