It’s been more than a year since the notorious Visit Malaysia 2020 logo was first unveiled in Chiang Mai, Thailand with the slogan “Travel. Enjoy. Respect.” in January 2018. Here’s a refresher of what it looks like:
Since it sparked neither joy nor respect among the Malaysian public due to its rudimentary and unappealing design, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture launched a nationwide competition in March 2019 in search of a suitable replacement for the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign.
Yesterday, our Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir finally unveiled the updated Visit Malaysia 2020 logo by 23-year-old graphic artist Alfred Phua at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
As usual, Malaysians took to the internet to voice their thoughts about the newly launched logo. In comparison to the previous design, the updated version certainly was a breath of fresh air, and many Malaysians loved the vibrant new design that featured the hornbill and our national flower.
However, many were confused about the slogan that accompanied the logo. Some were confused with the size inconsistencies while others were confused by the slogan altogether.
Naturally, some Malaysians took it upon themselves to “fix” the logo.
So, what do you think about the brand new Visit Malaysia 2020 logo? Let us know!
