Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin warned that this could happen if people still ignore the SOPs under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
In a special address to the nation, he said he's worried about the COVID-19 situation here, as 13 new clusters were reported recently and new cases reached double-digits in the past few days.
He reminded everyone to fully follow all SOPs, like maintaining social distancing, wearing face masks, and avoiding confined and crowded spaces.
The government is even thinking about making it compulsory to put on a face mask in public.
In addition, it may impose harsher penalties on those who ignore the SOPs.
As for Malaysians returning from overseas, they should follow all rules under their home confinement, and if not, they could be moved to designated quarantine centres where they can be strictly monitored.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin also wants parents, employers, teachers and community leaders to continually stress the importance of following the rules.
Because if not, we will have to go under lockdown again and this would cost the country a massive RM2 billion a day!
Why the warning?
It seems that many people have forgotten that we are still in the RMCO.
The government said that 380 people were arrested for SOP violations recently, including for going to pubs and nightclubs.
The fight against COVID-19 is not over yet, and if we continue to take things for granted all the progress that we've made will be lost.
