Contrasting Fortunes For Guardiola And Lampard

Man City boss Pep Guardiola and his Chelsea counterpart Frank Lampard have been reminded that fortunes can change in the blink of an eye in the Premier League.

This, following City’s 3-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this morning.

The result moved City up to fifth place, just four points off the leaders with a game in hand. They are also unbeaten in their last five games.

Not bad for a team that just a short while ago, were being written off as title contenders.

Even Guardiola admitted that his side are back in the race, having rediscovered their old form that saw them dominate the Premier League two or three seasons ago.

For Frank Lampard, however, things have been going in quite the opposite direction.

His Chelsea side started the season full of promise with a string of good results that saw them lead the standings at one point.

All that, however, came to a grinding halt as the Blues suffered a dip in form, losing four of their last six matches to currently sit in eighth place.

To make matters worse for Lampard, there are already rumours that Chelsea are considering sacking him - hardly surprising considering Blues owner Roman Abramovich is notoriously impatient with under-performing managers.

With the Premiership season yet to even reach the half-way point, its still too early to predict the fate of Lampard (or Guardiola, for that matter).

But if things remain as they are, there’s a good chance Lampard could be out of a job soon, while Guardiola will find himself in yet another title race.
