“Lazy to go out la, let’s just order delivery,” said many a lazy person. Previously, GrabFood used to charge a flat rate of RM5 for delivery, a pretty reasonable price to pay for having food come to your doorstep.
Now, the price could go up to RM9.
According to The Star, Grab explained in a statement that this was due to the company expanding their areas of delivery.
This means you can now order that cheesecake which was previously just out of reach of your delivery area! The larger radius and wider choice of restaurants is definitely a massive improvement.
With this, however, there will be higher charges. Grab said this move would allow them to compensate their riders better for the longer distances they have to travel.
One other bit of sad news - Grab will also be suspending the monthly subscription plans as well as the Deluxe GrabFood Plan on 13 December. On the plus side, the suspension may not be permanent.
The RM25 Deluxe GrabFood Plan offered subscribers 15 free deliveries, three RM10 coupons, as well as a 40% discount voucher, which sounds like a pretty sweet deal. For now, current subscribers will be able to renew the plan once more, with a 50% discount coupon thrown in.
