Staying At Home Shouldn’t Be Dreadful!

Staying home is not that bad if you know what to do with all that extra free time.

Try finding some home leisure activities that you enjoy doing, or cross things off your bucket list that you can do at home like finishing a book or learning how to cook.

Here are some ways to keep busy within the comfort of your own home:

1. Find new content online

Move away from your daily routine of scrolling through the same old timelines and news feeds. Take this opportunity to discover new things and expand your preferences.

You might just discover new worlds and new online communities that are the perfect fit for you, or... try downloading our SYOK app- You can listen to our SYOKcasts and watch exciting videos, even listen to all your favourite radio stations all in one app. Give it a try, you won’t regret it!

2. Prioritize taking care of yourself

Being cooped up at home for a prolonged period of time will trick you into thinking that there’s nothing worth getting ready for. Well, you have no idea how wrong you are!

Getting up early and getting out of bed, putting on nice and clean clothes, and making yourself a nice breakfast is important, especially for your mental health. Never forget about yourself no matter the circumstances.

3. Read, read and read!

...and we don’t mean tweets! Get off your phone for a few hours and grab a book instead. Everyone has that one book that we keep on our shelf and that we’ve been wanting to read for years, but never did.

There’s nothing like reading a good book to take your mind off of things and keep your brain engaged.

4. Get moving

Get off that couch, seriously!

Take 30 minutes out of your day to exercise and your body will thank you! There are a ton of easy online tutorials you can follow and just as many professionals willing to take you through even the most basic routines. Don’t forget to put on your workout gear and you’ll find it easier to get into the right active mindset.

5. Tidy up

Some say that deep cleaning and decluttering can be very therapeutic. Pay attention to other places that need a bit of decluttering- maybe your closet needs refreshing or the toilet needs a good scrubbing?

We get it, sweeping is unpleasant, and decluttering your closet is just too much work, but now you’ve got all the time in the world, so you might as well take care of the chores you’ve been postponing.

Being home shouldn’t be dreadful. We hope you are all staying safe and healthy during these challenging times.
