Start Your Day With A Glass Of Water!

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? Check your phone? Okay, we do that too, but after that? What do you do? 

If you are the one who just jumps right into shower and starts your day, we’d like to stop you there and ask you to drink a glass of water before you do that. 

According to nutritionist, Rania Batayneh, there are many benefits of starting your day by drinking water:

1. Drinking water immediately helps rehydration

When we sleep, we are going six to eight hours without water consumption. So if your throat feels dry when you wake up, drink a glass of water and your body will be immediately rehydrated. 

And we mean WATER, (not coffee)!


2. Drinking water makes you more alert

Lethargy often affects people who are dehydrated, or drink less water. According to Rania, water aids in both body regulation and brain function. So, drinking water will balance our moods and drinking water, especially ice water, will shock your body and can boost your alertness. Hmm, we never knew that. 



3. Drinking water helps fuel your brain

When your mind is hydrated, you become more productive. The human brain is made up of 73% water, so staying hydrated is key for maintaining optimal brain activity. Of course, you can’t just stop with a glass of water in the morning, but the practise will create a healthy habit. 


4. Drinking water helps you fight sickness

Your body is in repair and recovery mode when you’re sleeping. Your immune system works hard to get rid of the toxins in your body. Hence, when you drink water, you can actually speed up the process in which your body flushes the toxins away from your body faster and more easily.  

5. Drinking water increases metabolism

The carbs and proteins you eat are metabolized and transported by way of water throughout the body. So, water is essential in helping your body to boost metabolism. When we’re not so hydrated, we tend to mistake it with hunger and eat more. So, train your mind to drink more instead. 


There you have it! Start your day with water because it really is a healthy habit. Mineral water is always a good choice! Here's why.
