The Campaign was first introduced via digital platforms on 10 June, following the announcement by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) on the re-opening of domestic tourism in conjunction with the implementation of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

We all know that tourism is one of the industries severely-affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has taken the world by storm.

A number of tourism operators had to shut their operations down, some continued operating without making any profit, and those who depend on the industry, have lost their source of income...

Understanding this concerning situation, the Selangor State Government has taken the first step in announcing two Economic Stimulus Packages, and an Economic Recovery Plan which was announced by the Menteri Besar Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on 13 July.

The Economic Recovery Plan includes a Tourism Aid Package with a total allocation of a staggering RM 2,600,000.00.

RM 553,000.00 from this amount was given as a one-off incentive amounting to RM 1,000 per person, on which the Selangor government on 19 November had officially handed over to a total of 553 recipients comprising 486 members of Selangor Tourist Guide Association (SGTA), 16 homestay coordinators authorized by MOTAC, and 51 Selangor Community Hosts.

The second element to the Tourism Aid Package is the publication of “Selangor’s Tourism Voucher” subsidy with an allocation of RM 2,000,000.00.

Selangor’s Tourism Voucher has officially been activated at “Eager to Travel? Pusing Selangor Dulu” Campaign Launch held in Shah Alam on Thursday (17 December).
