Next Monday (August 8th) has been declared a public holiday for Hari Raya Haji, while schools nationwide are also on a break next week.
For those of you who are thinking of travelling or heading back to your hometowns... you already know you'll have to deal with traffic jams (it's a given during every holiday season!)
But don't fret, coz Waze has you covered with some handy traffic predictions to help you drive safely and get to your destination faster:
1: Obviously there'll be More Malaysians on the Road (i.e. more jams, lah!)
Waze expects its number of active users on the road to increase up to 39% compared to our usual traffic on a normal day. So plan your journey if you can, and try to avoid peak hours when you're heading out.
2: Malaysians Will Fuel Up More
Expect longer queues at petrol stations as Waze predicts 38% more of its users will navigate to fuel up on Hari Raya Haji compared to the same day of the week in July. Fuel up earlier if you can, to avoid having to deal with the crowds at petrol pumps!
3: Malaysians and their Love for Food and Shopping = More People in Malls
Waze is expecting its number of users who look for food-related navigations to increase by 95%. It also predicts that 25% more road users will be heading to shopping malls during this period. Don't forget to mentally brace yourself for the crowds!
Now that you’ve got the low-down on the traffic for next week, you can make better decisions when you plan your journey this holiday season! Drive safe, and tarik nafas before you deal with the crowds!
