Who Is The Marsh Girl? We Watched Where The Crawdads Sing And Here’s What We Think About The Film!

We were invited to the premiere of Where The Crawdads Sing and here’s what we think about the film!

Prior to watching the movie, we purposely never watched the trailers or read the book, so with that being said, we had no idea what to expect.

who is the marsh girl? we watched where the crawdads sing and here’s what we think about the film!

Where The Crawdads Sing tells a story about a young girl named Kya Clark (Daisy Edgar-Jones), who is called “Marsh Girl'' by the townspeople and is abandoned by her family at a young age and left to fend for herself in her home in a marsh.

When she was only six years old, her mother, Ma, walked out of their tiny hut that Kya shared with her four siblings and parents, and Ma never came back…

Kya’s father was an abusive alcoholic and over time, he would drive away all of Kya’s older siblings as well, including her beloved brother Jodie. And of course at that age, she doesn’t understand why everyone leaves or why they didn’t take her with them.

Traumatizing, kan?!

But to counter all of these, there are also plenty of kindness in the film shown through the store owner couple who took care of Kya when she had no one, the attorney who has known Kya her entire life and comes out of retirement just to represent her and her best friend Tate, who taught her to read and write.

For us personally, Where The Crawdads Sing is a beautiful and emotionally moving film. Daisy Edgar-Jones played her character, Kya perfectly!

We definitely would watch this movie again!
