Evelyn is a free-spirited twenty-something New Yorker who makes ends meet working as a waitress at catered events while pursuing her artistic goals of creating ceramics.
When she grabs a bag at a fancy Find Yourself event (supposedly a genealogy company) and discovers a DNA test among the goodies, she decides to research her family history. Of course, this is the first of many mistakes she made…
Evelyn (or Evie) is then contacted by her cousin Oliver Alexander, a lively young Briton who stops by to tell her some good news while on a business trip to New York, and tells her that she is a rather distant granddaughter of an old-money family - really, really old money.
