According to the Yonhap news agency, the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education has announced plans to establish a high school specializing in K-pop and related performances in the southeastern port city of Busan.

The education authorities revealed their intention to repurpose a soon-to-be-closed middle school into a dedicated public high school with the aim of opening it in March 2028.

This initiative marks the first establishment of a public school exclusively focused on K-pop courses in Busan, located 320 kilometers southeast of Seoul.

The school plans to welcome students from across the country, as well as international students, offering courses in vocals, dance, instruments, and other artistic disciplines.

The envisioned school aims to cater to the increasing demand for specialized education in the thriving K-pop industry.

In South Korea, major entertainment agencies operate a K-pop idol trainee system, known for its boot camp-like training and a structured process, ultimately leading to the debut of new artists.

This educational venture aligns with the industry's demand for well-trained talents, providing students with a unique opportunity to pursue careers in the dynamic world of K-pop.
