BLACKPINK's Jennie and Zico teamed up to create their hit track "SPOT!", and it's been a sensation on the music charts.

To promote the song, Zico recently appeared on the YouTube show KStarNextDoor4, where he shared how he managed to get Jennie on board for the collaboration and what it was like working with her.
During the interview, the host, MC Jonathan, asked Zico about the process of collaborating with another high-profile artist. He pointed out that Zico's known to be a perfectionist and wondered how he handled working with Jennie, given her superstar status and unique style.
Zico admitted that he wasn't sure what to expect from their partnership since they were just acquaintances before this project. He explained, "We had never collaborated before. It was our first time working together. I needed to understand how Jennie approached her work."
It turns out that Jennie has a very independent method when it comes to music. Zico noted that she has her own way of interpreting songs, especially in the studio. As the producer of "SPOT!", he would typically guide artists on how to sing their parts. However, Jennie took control from the start, exploring various directions on her own.
"Instead of me giving her specific instructions, she kept experimenting with different styles during recording," Zico explained. "She recorded several versions, then chose the one she liked best.
“I just provided some ideas along the way."
Jennie's proactive approach played a significant role in shaping the song's final structure. According to Zico, the original melody for "SPOT!" was quite simple, but Jennie added complexity with her creative input. This collaborative process led to the dynamic and catchy tune that fans love today.
"The initial version was more straightforward," Zico said. "But with Jennie's influence, it evolved into something more complex and layered."
