A unique phenomenon that apparently happens only once a year has attracted thousands of visitors to the Tanjung Aru beach in Langkawi last Tuesday (14 February).
The incident, which took place for an hour starting from 7 am, witnessed the sea “splitting” forming a 600-meter long sandbar to allow visitors to walk through it.
According to reports, the same incident also happened on Wednesday and Thursday morning where the sea level receded up to 0.1 meter.
Many took the opportunity to capture the moment on camera, walking through the “split sea” to other islands nearby, including Pulau Penyu, Pulau Ketam Baya and Pulau Cabang.
Because of the thousands of visitors that have started visiting the location, safety measures were also taken to keep everyone safe, which include sounding the warning siren for visitors to turn back to shore before the ride rises again.
