In a heartwarming display of bravery and compassion, a group of fishermen in Kuala Terengganu recently risked their lives to free a whale shark that had become tangled in their fishing net.

Their selfless actions were captured on video and shared by TikTok user @qasih2022, with one of the clips going viral, amassing over 1 million views and 17,000 likes.
The first video, recorded during a nighttime fishing trip, shows the fishermen gathering around their net, which was filled with hundreds of fish. However, what truly stood out among the catch was the enormous size of one particular creature—a whale shark, caught unintentionally and visibly struggling to free itself.
Despite being more than twice the size of one of the boats, the whale shark’s gentle movements hinted at its distress, prompting the fishermen to take action. In a follow-up video, the scene escalates as at least three of the fishermen, without hesitation, leap into the sea to help the struggling giant.
Working together, they carefully maneuvered the net beneath the whale shark, releasing it back into the ocean. Although this act of kindness resulted in the loss of a significant portion of their catch, the fishermen seemed unfazed, valuing the life of the whale shark above all else.
Once their mission was complete, the fishermen safely climbed back into their boats, with the whale shark now free to swim away into the open sea.
This incredible act of kindness not only highlights the fishermen's bravery but also serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and respect for marine life.
