Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran's new wax figures have sparked quite the conversation since their reveal at Hamburg's Panoptikum museum on August 13th. While some fans were thrilled, others couldn't help but express their surprise—and not necessarily in a good way.
The likenesses of the "Cruel Summer" singer and the "Shape of You" artist have been met with mixed reactions online. One fan on X couldn't hold back, saying, "They look so off I'm crying." Another chimed in with a bit of humour, commenting, "When your mum says you have Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift at home."

Ed's wax figure, in particular, drew some concerned remarks, with one fan noting, "Ed looks like his legs don't work like they used to before." Meanwhile, Taylor's figure didn't escape criticism either, as another fan observed, "Omg, they did her so dirty."
Despite the critiques, not everyone was displeased. Some fans praised the craftsmanship, with one writing, "Honestly really good renditions! Taylor's looks great!" Another fan shared their excitement, saying, "I bet the figures are super realistic and a must-see for any Swifties or Sheerios visiting the museum. I'd love to see how realistic they turned out."
Panoptikum, Germany's oldest wax museum, was eager to introduce these two new additions. In a press release, Dr. Susanne Faerber, the museum's Managing Director, expressed her enthusiasm: "With the wax figure of Taylor Swift, we are welcoming an absolute superstar to the Panoptikum. August 13 is therefore a truly lucky day for our wax museum—although the number 13 is also of great importance to Taylor Swift herself and to her countless Swifties. We are delighted to be able to offer many people a special fan experience with their star."

Ed Sheeran's figure was particularly significant for the museum, marking the first wax figure crafted by sculptor Lisa Büscher and her team. The project took two years to complete, with Lisa describing the experience as a challenge, especially due to Ed's numerous tattoos. "Of course, working with wax, a material that was previously unknown to me, was a great challenge for me and my team," Lisa explained, "but Ed Sheeran's many tattoos were also a complicated and time-consuming feature of the project."
Whether you love or loathe the figures, one thing's for sure: Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran's wax doppelgängers are making waves in Hamburg.
