“It’s The Manners!” South Korean Expat Praises Malaysians’ Behaviour When Commuting During Peak Hours

A video of a South Korean expat praising Malaysians’ behaviours while commuting during rush hours recently went viral on TikTok.

In the video, shared by user @borainkl shows her entering a crowded MRT station believed to be in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. 

“Rush hour MRT!” reads the caption. 

Although the MRT station was packed with people, she was shocked at how well-mannered everyone was. “As a Seouler, I must say: I AM IMPRESSED,” the text in her video reads. 

The video shows a packed MRT station, however commuters were seen queuing patiently while waiting for their train to arrive, “There was no pushing and everyone respected other people’s space,” she continued. 

“It’s so painful during rush hour in Korea. Malaysia rush hour is so nice, I can totally manage here!”

The video has since garnered over 559,100 views at the time of writing. 

Malaysians took to the comment section saying how they felt pride after seeing the video, “Thank you for giving us a reason to be proud of being a Malaysian. We are proud of our kesopanan and kesusilaan here,” translation: courtesy and morality.
