A touching video of a security guard assisting a young girl down the stairs at her school has melted hearts on TikTok, quickly going viral.

The video, shared by Nurkasmedah Abdullah, shows her four-year-old daughter, Eshal Nashwa, being gently led by 68-year-old security guard K. Santharan at a preschool in Taman Cuepacs, Cheras. Recorded on 2 January, the clip captures the tender moment as Santharan patiently holds Eshal's hand, guiding her to the school gate where her mother was waiting.
Nurkasmedah initially intended to film her daughter's first day at school as a keepsake but was pleasantly surprised to capture such a special interaction. "I was moved because it looked like a grandfather leading his granddaughter by the hand," she shared.
Santharan, who has worked at the school for over five years, spoke about his role with pride. "I consider all the children like my own grandchildren, regardless of their race," he told Harian Metro.
At the end of each school day, he makes it a point to help students safely reach their parents' cars or cross the road. "I treat all the students equally. When I look at them, I think of my own grandson, who is seven years old," he added.
Santharan's kindness hasn’t gone unnoticed by parents, many of whom have shown their appreciation with small tokens like food and drinks. "As long as I am strong and capable, I will continue to work here," he said.
The viral video has racked up over 270,000 views, with TikTok users praising the security guard’s compassion. Comments ranged from heartfelt gratitude to admiration for his selflessness.

One commenter reflected on the importance of valuing people for their kindness: "Don't judge by colour or appearance. Look at the heart. God hides good people in unexpected ways."
Parents from other kindergartens under the same franchise also shared similar experiences, praising the attentiveness and warmth of their security guards. One parent noted, "The guards are all so friendly. They remember every child's name and greet them one by one."
