"I Want to Support" Chinese Uncle In Perak Has Never Collected Rent from Tamil School Since 1938

In a heartwarming story of kindness in Malaysia, meet Yek Dong Ping, a 78-year-old rubber trader from Sitiawan, Perak. For three decades, he's been a true Malaysian, showing what it means to care.

Back in the day, Uncle Yek bought a piece of land in Ayer Tawar for RM330,000. Surprise – there was already a Tamil school on it! Instead of making them move, Uncle Yek not only let them stay but also didn't charge any rent.

He even paid the land tax for the school, which took up half of the land!

Uncle Yek's big heart became even clearer when the school wanted to buy the land last year. Although the land was worth about RM200,000 per acre, Uncle Yek said it was okay to sell almost three acres for just RM400,000, which has helped the school to grow and become better.

But that's not all – when Uncle Yek found out the school had trouble getting money, he didn't just sit back… He promised to give RM50,000 and lowered the land price to RM350,000. And when the school still struggled, Uncle Yek made it even more affordable at RM300,000.

The school was amazed and thankful for Uncle Yek’s kindness. They praised Uncle Yek for not taking any rent since 1938 and for helping with school stuff, even bringing oranges during Chinese New Year.

"I'm not rich, but I can pay the land tax," said Yek humbly.

He told reporters that he just wants to give back to the Indian rubber tappers who've been there for him. Yek's kindness is a simple, powerful reminder that a little love goes a long way.
