In a TikTok video documenting their journey, the group traversed unpaved roads and wild landscapes, ensuring they arrived on time to provide essential medical care.
For context, Sonsogon is located approximately 60 km from the nearest town of Bandau. However, due to the area’s rugged geography, local transport can take up to four hours—excluding the additional distance often covered on foot.
The video shows the team’s 4×4 vehicles manoeuvring through routes originally carved out by logging trucks and heavy machinery. Despite the arduous journey, the team successfully reached their destination.
One of the volunteers shared in a follow-up video: “Our mobile clinic travelled for three days and two nights to Kg Sonsogon during the rainy season. We arrived in Sonsogon Magandai on the second day and managed to complete our duties, even improvising when the village had no electricity.”
In addition to their work, the team took a brief moment to rest and explore the village, connecting with the local community.
Their efforts highlight the lengths some go to ensure that healthcare is accessible to all, regardless of how remote the location may be.
