Lionel Messi’s Argentina world champions post has now become the most liked picture in Instagram history, beating the previous record holder - a photo of an egg.
The previous photo, which got 56.1 million likes was recently beaten by Messi’s photo of him lifting the World Cup trophy after Argentina’s win against France in Sunday’s World Cup final.
After the thrilling game against France, Messi took to Instagram to share a series of photos of the celebrations in Qatar.
“Thank you very much to my family, to all who support me and also to all who believed in us. We demonstrate once again that Argentines when we fight together and are united, we are capable of achieving what we set out to do,” he said in the caption.
The photo has since gotten over 72 million likes while Messi himself has surpassed over 408 million followers at the time of writing.
