Malaysian traveller and content creator Hazwan Hafiz recently shared his remarkable journey of exploring the entirety of Peninsular Malaysia in less than two weeks while keeping costs in check.

Hazwan, known for his exploration of rare and beautiful destinations in Malaysia, documented his budget-friendly road trip on his TikTok account @hazwanhfiz. Describing the adventure as "Cik Kiah’s Group Trip To Conquer Semenanjung Malaysia," Hazwan, accompanied by his parents, covered a total distance of 2,914km, starting and ending their journey in Kedah.
Opting for quiet and scenic routes over well-known highways, the family explored a different state each day during their 12-day expedition. Hazwan showcased the various places they visited, emphasising the joy of discovering new locales off the beaten path.
Breaking down the expenses for the entire trip, Hazwan transparently shared the costs incurred by him and his parents:
- Petrol – RM410 (using a 2014 Honda City that was one and a half years old).
- Accommodation – RM1,163 (for three people).
- Food and drinks – RM923 (for three people).
In total, the family spent a mere RM2,496 for the entire round trip, showcasing that an enjoyable and enriching journey doesn't have to be synonymous with extravagant spending.
Hazwan emphasised the variable nature of travel costs, acknowledging that expenses depend on factors such as the duration of the trip, accommodation preferences, and dining choices. In his caption, he highlighted individual preferences, stating, "Everyone has different attitudes and nature to them."
Additionally, Hazwan pointed out that the type of vehicle can influence costs, noting that driving an SUV or MPV tends to be more fuel-efficient than a sedan. He also highlighted the economic advantage of travelling with more people, as the cost per person is reduced.
