A man recently took to Twitter to share how his 80-year-old mother just lost her entire life savings from her bank account.
“An account that isn’t linked to any e-Wallets, online banking, and not even a TAC were sent to us. Yet, this happened.
“This shows that our money isn’t safe, even if it’s kept in a bank!” he wrote in his tweet.
In another tweet, he shared that his colleague lost almost all of her savings totalling over RM18,000 and was left with only RM9 in her account.
“The same thing happened, she didn’t click any link, received no TAC and didn’t share her ID or password to anyone, including her own husband.
“You can’t keep your money in your home because it’s not safe, and you can’t keep it in the bank either,” he added.
He continued in another tweet saying that the branch manager had reached out to him to discuss the situation, and thoroughly reviewed his mother’s bank statement. The branch manager also patiently explained to her mother about what had happened.
At first, his mother wanted to file a police report but later changed her mind because she didn’t want to go through all the trouble.
The bank, of course, respected her mother’s decision and the investigation was immediately halted.
