Too Much Excitement? Man Rips Open Angpow and Damages RM50 Notes Inside

Collecting Angpows during Chinese New Year is always a joyous occasion, but things took a turn when one man accidentally tore up his RM100 after mishandling the red packet. In a TikTok video that quickly went viral, he showed off the torn Angpow and the damaged RM50 notes lying on his table.

Upon closer inspection, it was clear that the top part of the red packet had been ripped off, rather than the usual unsealing method. The man also displayed another sealed Angpow with someone's name on it, though he chose not to reveal the contents of that one.

Social media users immediately shared their advice, suggesting he take the torn banknotes to the bank for a replacement. One even cheekily offered to buy the damaged notes from him.

"You can exchange them at Bank Negara as long as the serial number is intact," one user commented.

"They're no longer usable, but I'll buy them for RM20," another said, "You'll need to fill out some forms at Bank Negara, but they should accept the damaged notes for exchange."

While some offered helpful advice, others took the opportunity to joke about the situation, speculating that the man had gotten a bit too eager to check his Angpow's contents.

"Good thing it wasn't a purple RM100 note inside," one user quipped, "You were a bit too hasty there!" another remarked.
