However, if you’re having trouble getting back home in time for the 15th General Election (GE15), don't worry! Malaysians have recently come together on Twitter to start carpooling with strangers so that everyone can balik kampung in time for polling day.
Twitter users @nizambakeri and @AnnieVieeee have created a platform called @CarpoolGE15 as part of the UndiBanjir initiative to help Malaysians in returning home to vote.
Many Twitter users have started offering the spaces in their cars to their respective destinations using the hashtag @CarpoolGE15 for fellow Malaysians who might be in need of a ride back to their hometowns.
They have also posted a guide on how to stay safe if you’re interested but concerned about the risk and safety of carpooling with strangers.
Many Malaysians have gotten involved with the initiative by providing rides to areas like Terengganu, Penang and Perlis as well!
Some even offered the rides for free! How kind!
Amazing! Malaysians are always willing to rally together and help each other out despite our differences!
