Egg swapping, a practice where shoppers exchange eggs from different cartons to get the best ones, has become a common sight in supermarkets. However, one woman recently took this behaviour to an extreme by swapping cheaper eggs for more premium ones in an attempt to save money.
A viral video shared on Twitter shows the woman carefully selecting Grade A eggs from the top shelf and discreetly placing them into a carton of Grade B eggs on a lower shelf. This allowed her to purchase the more expensive eggs at a reduced price.

The video, which has since garnered over 1.5 million views, sparked outrage among netizens. Many expressed their disapproval of her actions, calling them selfish and dishonest.
One user commented, “If you can’t afford it, act like it. Have your own chickens at home if you want it cheap.”
Another user criticised the woman for her actions, saying, “Such a cheapskate. Only a difference of a few cents, and you wanna swap. What for? Would you become poor if you’d pay extra for better quality ones?”
Others chimed in with similar experiences.
“This is normal. When I worked at Aeon, we had to deal with this so often that we eventually had to assign security guards to the egg section,” shared one person.
Another user recounted a similar encounter at a Speedmart store, adding, “I thought they were staff, but it turned out they were just customers.”
This incident highlights the lengths some individuals will go to in order to save a few ringgit, even at the expense of others.
Remember, honesty and integrity go a long way. When shopping, always respect the store’s pricing and policies, as dishonest actions can have wider consequences, not just for the business but for the community as well.
Let’s all do our part to make shopping a fair and enjoyable experience for everyone!
