After receiving their very first paycheck, this individual's family wanted to have a big celebratory meal, and expected this person to foot the bill. Just by covering the cost of the meal took away 15% of the person's monthly earnings, leaving them with very little money for the rest of the month.

"I make RM1,500 a month, and I had to pay not just for my parents' meal but also for my ten younger siblings. The meal used up a significant portion of my hard-earned money."

As the eldest sibling, this person felt responsible for covering the expenses, "In less than a day, I spent RM230 just on the celebratory meal. And I still needed to buy gifts for my partner.

“I'll need to be extremely careful with my money for the rest of the month."

A photo shared on Twitter revealed that the family's meal cost RM230 at a fast food restaurant. This post triggered a large online discussion.

Some individuals expressed sympathy for the person and believed that parents should have a better understanding of how much money their oldest child has, "It's nice to celebrate, but it should be within your means."

Others mentioned that spending money on family celebrations can create cherished memories. They believed that these moments contribute to strengthening family bonds.
