In an interview with Harian Metro, the father, Muhammad Ghaffar Ilham Kamaruddin, shared the story behind the viral video. He revealed that the footage was taken two years prior when he was only able to return home once every two weeks due to the demanding nature of his work.
During that time, he and his family lived apart. Ghaffar resided near Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru, to fulfill his cargo delivery responsibilities, while his wife and children settled in Batu Pahat, causing a physical distance between them.
To alleviate the ache of separation, Ghaffar devised a way to steal precious moments with his beloved family. Whenever he received an order in Melaka or Senawang, Negeri Sembilan, he would request that his wife bring their children to the designated location. This allowed them to meet briefly, soothing the longing he felt for them.
However, a change came about in their lives when they made the decision to relocate to Kota Masai together. By living under the same roof, Ghaffar now enjoys more frequent visits with his family. Although his work still demands much of his time, he strives to return home as often as possible, even if it means arriving after his children have already drifted off to dreamland.
Ghaffar understands the sacrifices he must make to provide for his family and raise his children, who range in age from 11 months to seven years old. His career as a self-employed long-haul driver keeps him on the road for extended periods, causing him to miss precious milestones in his children's lives.
He muses with a touch of melancholy, "Sometimes, it feels as if they're growing up too fast. When I leave, they're crawling, and upon my return, they're already walking, soon to embark on their educational journey.
