Salsabila claimed that she and her younger brother had run into the man at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Hospital in Kubang Kerian.
She said the man approached the both of them while they were waiting for their sister-in-law to give birth. The man asked to speak privately with her younger brother.
“After a few minutes, I went over to see them because I was feeling uneasy. My brother was holding his phone and had just finished transferring RM190. The man, now crying, admitted he didn’t have enough cash to pay for his wife’s maternity bills.
“He made a promise to repay the money back the following night,” she said.
However, their attempts to get in touch with the man were unsuccessful. The siblings then filed a police report after realizing that they had been scammed.
They also learned that the man had been pursuing other victims as well.
